Speech and Language Services
Speech therapists, also known as speech-language pathologists (SLP's), treat clients with different types of communication and swallowing disorders. Our speech therapists are passionate about helping their clients improve their language and communication skills, as well as feeding and swallowing techniques when necessary. Some types of disorders that our speech therapists treat include:

Speech sound disorders - The inability to form certain word sounds. These include articulation disorders, phonological disorders, and apraxia of speech.
-Articulation disorder - The struggle to produce speech sounds correctly.
-Phonological disorder - The struggle to produce the correct speech sounds in the correct place of
words.
-Apraxia of speech - An acquired neurological disorder, which impacts the brain's planning and
sequencing of motor skills required for speech sound production.

Fluency disorders - Trouble speaking in a fluid or flowing way, such as stuttering.

Expressive disorders - Difficulty conveying or expressing information.

Receptive disorders - Trouble understanding and processing what others say.
​
Resonance disorders - A blockage or obstruction of regular airflow in the nasal or oral cavities, altering the vibrations responsible for voice quality.

Cognitive-communication disorders - Difficulty communicating appropriately due to an injury to the part of the brain that controls the ability to think. May affect memory, ability to reason, etc.

Aphasia - An acquired communication disorder which affects a person's ability to speak and understand others; can also affect reading and writing.

Dysarthria - A weakness or inability to control the muscles used for speech, causing slow and slurred speech.
